Publishing on the internet is easy. Publishing responsibly is harder. This page explains how we approach editorial work at SpotlightersPost, what standards we hold ourselves to, and what you can expect from everything we publish.
Our Editorial Standards
Everything on SpotlightersPost goes through an editorial process before publication. The specifics depend on the type of content, but the principles stay the same.
Accuracy
We verify facts before publishing. For news stories, that means checking against multiple sources. For box office reports, we cross-reference industry trackers and official trade data. For tech and science coverage, we rely on primary sources like research papers, official company announcements, and credible industry analysts.
If we can only find one source for a claim, we’ll say so. If information is unverified or based on industry rumours, we label it clearly. We don’t present speculation as fact.
Attribution and Sourcing
We credit our sources. When we reference data, quotes, or reporting from other outlets, we attribute it properly and link to the original where possible. If a source asks to remain anonymous, we respect that, but we use anonymous sourcing sparingly and only when the information is genuinely important.
We don’t copy content from other publications. Period. Our articles are originally written. If you find something on our site that looks like it was lifted from elsewhere, tell us. That’s a serious violation of our own standards.
Independence
Our editorial decisions aren’t influenced by advertisers, sponsors, or business partnerships. The advertising team and the editorial team operate independently. A brand can’t pay to get a favourable review, and running an ad on our site doesn’t buy editorial coverage.
Sponsored content is always labelled. Clearly and visibly. If you see “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” on an article, that means a brand paid for it. Everything else is independent editorial work.
Corrections and Updates
We make mistakes sometimes. When we do, here’s how we handle it:
Minor errors (typos, small factual corrections that don’t change the meaning of the article) are fixed directly in the text.
Significant corrections (wrong numbers, misattributed quotes, factual errors that affect the article’s conclusions) are noted at the bottom of the article with a “Correction” label, the date of correction, and an explanation of what changed.
Retractions are rare but not impossible. If an entire article is found to be based on false information, we’ll either retract it entirely or publish a follow-up explaining what went wrong.
To report an error, email editorial@spotlighterspost.com with the article link and a description of the issue. We aim to review and respond within 24 hours.
Content Categories
Not everything on our site serves the same purpose, so here’s how we think about our content:
News reporting covers events and developments as they happen. These articles stick to facts, sourced information, and verified data. You’ll find these across our Entertainment, Tech, and Business sections.
Analysis and opinion pieces include the author’s interpretation and perspective. Reviews, box office breakdowns, and trend pieces fall into this category. The author’s byline is always visible.
Evergreen and educational content explains concepts, answers common questions, or provides background on ongoing topics. These are written to stay relevant over time and are updated when necessary.
AI and Technology in Our Workflow
We use technology, including AI tools, as part of our editorial workflow. But there’s a clear line we don’t cross: AI doesn’t write our articles. It might help with research, data analysis, or first-draft structuring, but every piece of content on this site is written, reviewed, and approved by a human editor before it goes live.
We believe transparency about this matters, especially in 2026 when the line between AI-generated and human-written content is getting blurry. Our commitment is straightforward: real journalists, real editorial judgement, real accountability.
Ethical Guidelines
Privacy and Dignity
We respect the privacy of individuals, especially those who aren’t public figures. We don’t publish private information without consent, and we don’t engage in invasive reporting. When covering sensitive topics, we err on the side of respect.
Diversity and Representation
We’re conscious of how people and communities are represented in our content. We avoid stereotypes, use inclusive language, and aim to cover stories from diverse perspectives. This isn’t performative. It’s basic editorial responsibility.
Conflicts of Interest
If an author has a personal or financial connection to the subject of an article, they disclose it or recuse themselves from the story. We don’t tolerate undisclosed conflicts.
Reader Interaction
We value reader feedback and take it seriously. If you disagree with something we published, let us know. If you think we missed an angle, tell us. Constructive engagement makes our work better.
That said, we don’t tolerate harassment directed at our team. Our writers put their names on their work, and they deserve to be treated with basic respect, even when you disagree with their take.
